Perfect Squares of Odd Numbers

Here’s something interesting I discovered when I was developing a simple blur method.
Perfect squares of odd numbers minus one are multiples of 8.

For instance:
3 * 3 – 1 = 8 = 8 * 1
5 * 5 – 1 = 24 = 8 * 3
7 * 7 – 1 = 48 = 8 * 6

21 * 21 – 1 = 440 = 8 * 55

I wonder what’s at work here. I’ll have to check Sir Isaac Newton’s notebooks.

Editions

I am proud to announce that a number of my artworks will be placed for sale in limited editions starting December 1. Each piece in this group will be sold in 4 different sizes with limited runs, signed and numbered by me. An unlimited run of unsigned 8x10s and postcards will also be made.

Dimensions will vary some due to differing aspet ratios but as a general guide signed editions will be as follows:

Extra Large Large Medium Small
Run 1 + AP 8 64 256
Dim 44-60″ 36-40″ 24-30″ 15-20″

Each piece will have its specific details available on the purchase page.

The Great Migration

I’ve finally gone and done it. I am migrating everything on this site over to a WordPress blog. My hoe grown blog was awesome (and after looking at under the hood, was not far off from how WP runs) but tinkering it has become tiresoe and WP has a stable of devs working to improve it via plug-ins and updates. So, I’ll be migrating slowly over and attempting to set up new galleries as I go.

In the short term, check out my flickr page. it will always have my most recent work.
